FYI–
Due to insufficient responses regarding the meeting that we hoped to host, the meeting is unfortunately cancelled. We will experiment with the electronic way of doing business by using the internet like email, website, blogging/vlogging, etc. It will be interesting to see how it goes for us as an organization and how it will work for everyone. I believe with the use of technology that we will get more done and quickly. We will run tests and see if it positively or negatively helps our organization as a whole.
USES OF TECHNOLOGY
WEBSITE–
We can use setdga.org to start polls that can tell us if the idea or whatever’s proposed is accepted or declined based on the number of votes. We can use the website to keep members and/or non-members informed of new and old businesses. We can find a way for people to email comments/ideas/suggestions/propositions/proposals from the webste itself. Maybe we can create the members page that only the members can view the page by using an account and password and be able to vote electronically from the same page.
EMAIL–
To give you an idea how things can be done electronically–we can email comments/ideas/suggestions/propositions/proposals to the specific email address or me (or whatever’s best) then the officers and I will look at the emails and vote on them (if needed) then email to members to vote. We will need to figure out processes and procedures on how to get voting going by following bylaws and applying it to the technology that we use.
BLOGGING/VLOGGING–
We can use blogging and vlogging methods to add comments/ideas/suggestions/propositions/proposals. We need to be creative on how to get things done and take advantage of technology the best we can. Maybe blogging/vlogging can help us and everyone else see what people in general want from SETdga and how SETdga can be better for everyone.
I am sure there are more uses that we can take advantage of technology, but I am trying to keep this simple. I don’t want to give you a headache. A headache can be bad for the golf game.
Members/Non-Members–If you have ideas on how to run SETdga businesses better and electronically (internet/technology/etc), please share with us.
There may a time where we can’t take care of electronically, we will have to conduct a meeting where people need to show up if needed.
What we officers need from you is your FEEDBACK/COMMENTS/IDEAS/SUGGESTIONS via email.
Let’s change the subject a bit–
SCRAMBLE
What I really need from you is that people who plan to attend the scramble in April to email me and tell me who is playing. We can help anyone who does not have a team set up. Why it is very IMPORTANT to email me is because I want to be sure that I get the money from players and be sure to give the tournament director at the golf course the right number of teams. That way, the tournament can be smooth and successful for everyone. Please check out the scramble page and be sure to register and mail the registration/money to the PO BOX — http://setdga.org/?page_id=31
Thanks to all–

Lots of golfers like Toby Welch, Douglas Zenger, Charles Clark, Robert Stevens, Joe Radwanski, Craig Stewart, Wes Swanson and I overcame Kingwood Cove regardless of our scores. We had fun playing and socializing. We could not conduct a meeting because almost half of the players had other plans. Personally, I was so glad to see more than 4 golfers attending the golfing event. For a long time, we only had 4 players on the average. I hope this is a good sign for more golfers coming to represent the deaf community in the upcoming monthly events.

Hello again–
Robert Stevens, Joe Radwanski, Douglas Zenger and I survived Quail Valley (El Dorado). We had fun on the recently renovated course that we got to experience playing in the cold rain. We will definitely play Quail Valley again. It was very challenging on most holes. 3 of 4 par3 holes were a little over 200 yards! We played from the blue tees. Before we teed off, one of the people in the pro shop kept telling us that we are crazy to go out there to play on the wet course. I told him that we are here for the love of golf and that it should show you how much we love GOLF! After playing the round, we wanted to go back to the pro shop to show that we survived with flying colors, but all of the people we saw that morning were already gone for the day. Yikes!
We will keep you posted on the upcoming golfing event on February 20th in the North-Northeast or East-Northeast subzones.

Here is what I have said on my email to everyone on the distribution list the day before Thanksgiving and want you to see it online as well–
Hello to everyone–
I wanted to use this time to wish you all Happy and Safe
Thanksgiving! I want to say a few words as well — I am thankful for
SETdga being alive, a good group of deaf golfers and all the support
from all the golfers and non-golfers (family, friends, etc).
I wanted to let you all know a few things to look forward to from
December to the next year of 2010.
December 12th (2nd Saturday) is the upcoming monthly golfing event
that will be at a course that will be picked by members in NE/SE
Houston.
January 2010 may be a great time to host a holiday dinner to show our
gratitude for all the happenings at SETdga and give ourselves an
opportunity to get to know each other better off the course. We, the
officers, will find a number of restaurants in convenient locations
that we can find and use for the holiday dinner.
January 16th (3rd Saturday) will be the next golfing event.
March/April 2010 should have the annual scramble that may have 3- or
4-men teams using the best ball format. We are still trying out golf
courses and gathering information like prices and scheduling options.
What I am hoping for is more participation and playing times with our
SETdga friends and more involvement from everyone to make SETdga grow
bigger and bigger for the year 2010. I do miss seeing lots of golfing
action with different deaf golfers. I hope that we can get together
more often and work together to make SETdga a better deaf golf
association for everyone and years to come.
Please feel free to email me for anything — ideas, comments,
suggestions and any kind of assistance to or from SETdga.
Please visit http://www.setdga.org from time to time.
Thanks to all and Happy Thanksgiving to you all,
Rodney Fetter

Here are the results of last Saturday’s 2009 2-Men Scramble at Oakhurst:
Champion — Robert Stevens/Rodney Fetter
Runner-Up — Wes Swanson/James Nidiffer
We (Robert and I) thought there was going to be a sudden death opportunity,
but it ended up that we won. I was glad that we got to be able to get this
scramble going even with the low participation level. It was very smooth
and fun. Good pace of play.
We hope next year means more participation from other golfers. We will
keep you all posted. Please keep your eyes open for the 2010 4-men
Scramble (anyone welcome) details on the website and by email. I hope
to be able to work with the officers and members soon to work on the
scramble. Let’s start brainstorming for ideas together. You all know how
to email me… SETdga is all about you all in the deaf golfing community.
Thanks.
